Load Banks

Real power and reactive power together. RR-Series load banks apply combined kW + kVAR at a controllable lagging power factor, loading a generator or alternator exactly as the real world will — proving the engine, the AVR and the cooling under true conditions.

Overview

True load, at the
right power factor.

A purely resistive test proves only half the picture. Real generators feed motors, transformers and drives — inductive loads that draw reactive power and pull the power factor down. The RR-Series adds switchable inductive (kVAR) load to the resistive bank so the set is tested at its rated power factor, typically 0.8 lagging.

This exercises the prime mover, the alternator winding and the automatic voltage regulator together, exposing voltage regulation, transient response and thermal behaviour that a resistive-only test will never reveal. Capacitive (leading) reactive stages are available for testing under modern electronic loads.
